JULIA BÜTTNER - OBOE

Julia Büttner, who grew up in the Rhine-Main region, discovered her passion for music at an early age. Her first successes in the „Jugend musiziert“ competition and support measures such as chamber music courses and work phases with the Hessen Youth Symphony Orchestra strengthened her resolve to become a professional musician. At the age of 17, she became a junior student at the Freiburg University of Music. This was followed shortly afterwards by a first national prize and a special prize from the Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben – both as part of the „Jugend musiziert“ competition.
Her studies took her to Freiburg, Paris and Stuttgart, where she gained valuable experience – including as a trainee in the SWR Symphony Orchestra Baden-Baden and Freiburg. She represented the Freiburg University of Music at the German University of Music Competition and took up her first permanent position as deputy principal oboist of the Neubrandenburg Philharmonic Orchestra while still a student.
After engagements in various German orchestras, she was appointed principal oboist of the Landespolizeiorchester Rheinland-Pfalz in 2023. Her concert career has taken her all over Germany and Europe, with performances in renowned venues such as the Cologne Philharmonie, the Berlin Philharmonie, the Cité de la Musique Paris, the Concertgebouw Amsterdam and the Tonhalle Zurich.
In addition to her orchestral work, Julia Büttner is passionate about chamber music. She has performed in a wide variety of formations – from duos with piano to wind octets – and feels equally at home in a broad repertoire ranging from early music with basso continuo to the new music of Elliott Carter.
